Weekly Gold — Week 15: Lamar, The Magician
Welcome to Champions Round!
Golden Nuggets 💰
The Ravens-Browns Monday Night game was an all-timer. Instant classic. Lamar Jackson goes to the locker room with cramps, gets an IV, runs back out on to the field just as backup QB Trace McSorely gets hurt. Comes in for a 4th downplay with the game on the line and throws a touchdown. Game over, right? Not even close! The Browns go down and score a TD in 45 seconds and they left too much time on the clock!!! Lamar drives the Ravens down again and Justin Tucker does what he does best: Make Clutch Kicks. The Ravens win! And yes, the safety at the end of the game cost some people in Vegas A LOT of money. One of the most incredible games you will ever see.
Jalen Hurts may be good and the Philadelphia Eagles may have a new Quarterback. It’s tough to judge a QB in just one week, but Hurts had himself a great debut against the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles won and Hurts looked poised, made smart decisions and flummoxed one of the best defenses in the NFL. Carson Wentz can still be a good to great QB in the NFL. However, for THIS Eagles team — with a depleted offensive line and limited weapons — Hurts is the right guy.
I hope everyone appreciates the pure dominance of Travis Kelce. There has never been, and may never be again, a bigger gap between the first and second-best fantasy player at a position. Kelce, who had 136 yards and a TD on Sunday, isn’t just leading TE’s in fantasy point this season, he’s lapping the position. Oh, he also has the most receiving yards in the NFL…..including wide receivers. The future Hall of Famer is putting on a clinic.
If you grinded out a playoff spot starting rookie running backs all season long in fantasy, you’re finally seeing dividends. Jonathan Taylor, D’Andre Swift, Cam Akers and JK Dobbins are all now very valuable fantasy starters.
Who’s the best QB from the 2018 NFL draft class: Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen? Jackson has a MVP under his belt and just had perhaps the best moment of his career on Monday Night. But Josh Allen has been downright dominant of late. Tough question.

Moments of Payne 👀
Aaron Jones owes me nothing…however he owes me everything!!
I knew this would be a breakout season for Jones. He came into the year as the clear RB1 in Green Bay. The stars aligned as the “Aaron Rodgers Revenge Tour” took shape. Smart people don’t bet against Rodgers when he’s angry. So by extension, I put all my eggs in Jones’ basket early.
Jones has been an undeniable lock all year. Double-digit fantasy performances in every game, right up until this week! The week I needed him most, he decides to chill and let Davante Adam’s steal the show. Bad luck for me I guess as I took a swift exit from the playoffs in every single league. If the Packers don’t win the Super Bowl, I don’t think I can ever forgive Jones.
Waiver Wire Targets 🎯
Lynn Bowden Jr. — Dolphins RB/WR
Bowden, a former QB at Kentucky, finally got some playing time and produced nicely for the Dolphins. He has eligibility at RB and WR in most leagues and could have a nice role for Miami due to their injury situation.
KJ Hamler — Broncos WR
Hamler is matchup dependent, but the rookie finally had a breakout game against the Panthers, scoring two touchdowns. He’s definitely a big risk, especially in the playoffs, but if you’re desperate you may want to go bold and grab Hamler.
Jeff Wilson Jr. — 49ers RB
The 49ers running back carousel is back to Wilson, who was the top back for SF against Washington. Based on where they are in the standings, the 49ers may decide to shut down Raheem Mostert for the season, leaving Wilson as potentially the top back for the rest of the year.
Kendrick Bourne — 49ers WR
Deebo Samuel went down with an early injury against Washington and didn’t return. Again, based on the standings it wouldn’t be surprised to see SF shut down Samuel. Bourne steps into the #2 receiver role and may have some value.
FSGA Update 🏈
We didn’t get to ease into the playoffs at all in our FSGA quarterfinal matchup. Following the afternoon games on Sunday our squad was down by 40 points with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Nick Chubb and J.K. Dobbins left. The other team had James Conner. We were in some trouble.
However, after JuJu had a big game and Conner had dud we had a shot at advancing.
Going into Monday Night, with a spot in the semifinals on the line, we needed 20.2 points from J.K. Dobbins and Nick Chubb.
We didn’t have to wait long to cover that number. For that we are thankful! Dobbins and Chubb combined for three touchdowns and we easily advanced to the semis!
