Everyone is up in arms about Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams sending a blitz on the Hail Mary that allowed the Raiders to win. Why? The man literally saved the Jets season! Would you rather go 1–15 and lose the top pick to the Jaguars or go 0–16 and get Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence? Williams deserves a parade.
Did you know that Carson Wentz’s 4-year, $128 million contract hasn’t even kicked in yet? That’s fun to think about considering he is now the backup QB for the Eagles. That’s right, it’s Jalen Hurts at QB in Philly. Maybe it’s not always sunny.
The next coach that needs to be fired (other than Adam Gase): Anthony Lynn. I didn’t think he deserved the axe two weeks ago. Now? He’s got to go. 45–0 loss at home to the Patriots? Perhaps the greatest coaching mismatch in NFL history.
For those of you that got a fantasy playoff spot taken from you on Monday Night, just know that I feel your pain. Thanks, Josh Allen! There’s no worse feeling than putting months of effort in just to get the boot at the buzzer.
If you were one of the many people that started Clyde Edwards-Helaire thinking that he would at least get SOME touches on Sunday night, I feel bad for you and apologize. CEH was active but didn’t get any burn because of a stomach bug that didn’t allow him to practice all week. I can’t imagine how many matchups and playoffs spots were determined by him sitting. Why 12 weeks!?!? Why did this have to take so damn long!!! The process to reinstate Josh Gordon perplexes me! I have a visual in my mind, there is some unattended fax machine at the NFL’s office, waiting for an “approval” stamp.
I drafted Josh in every single one of my leagues this year. I knew it was a long shot. I knew the risk. At best, I was banking on his return a few weeks before the fantasy playoffs. Now I sit in purgatory with no way out.
If someone has the fax number to the NFL, send it my way. I want to send images with lumps of coal for the holidays.
Waiver Wire Targets 🎯
Peyton Barber & JD McKissic — Washington RB
Antonio Gibson left Monday’s game vs. Pittsburgh with a toe injury. If it’s a turf toe injury, it could hold Gibson out for a couple of games. Barber and McKissic will be hot adds on the waiver wires.
Ty Johnson — Jets RB
If Frank Gore is unable to go for the Jets, Johnson will be the main beneficiary. He had a nice game against the Raiders on Sunday, going for 104 rushing yards and a TD.
Jalen Hurts — Eagles QB
Hurts is officially the starter in Philly. He’s a good insurance policy for those of you in the playoffs in case your stud QB gets hurt.
Ito Smith — Falcons RB
Todd Gurley is dealing with a knee issue and we know how that goes for Gurley. Brian Hill has been relatively ineffective but you could pick him up in this spot if you’re so inclined. Personally, I prefer Smith.
FSGA Update 🏈
Heading into the week, we needed a win to clinch a bye and move to 10–3 on the season. Our day didn’t get off to a great start and we ended up down 26 heading into Monday Night. We had JuJu Smith-Schuster, JK Dobbins and Antonio Gibson and our opponent had Benny Snell.
On the second possession of the first Monday night game, Gibson limps off with a toe injury and is shortly thereafter declared OUT for the game. Ugh! So much pain.
Snell didn’t do much and JuJu had 7 catches for about 2 total yards so we entered Tuesday night needing JK Dobbins to score 17.9 points. Despite scoring a TD and ripping off a 30 yard run, John Harbaugh had plenty of RBs in his stable and decided not to lean on Dobbins.
The loss marks a disaster for our squad. We dropped to 9–4 on the year, moved to 3rd place and we no longer will receive a bye. Woof. Good luck to us as we enter the playoffs this week.
