What a wild Sunday! Here’s some thoughts on the two conference title games and the matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.

Tampa Bay 31 — Green Bay 26

What an odd and thrilling game. A lot of twists and turns, but ultimately a couple of egregious Green Bay mistakes cost them the game.

The Packers coaching staff deserves a ton of blame for the loss. The last play before halftime was one of the worst defensive coaching decisions you will ever see, and the choice to kick a Field Goal instead of go for a touchdown on 4th down at the end of the game will haunt them. Yes, you need two scores to win. However, you’re giving the ball back to Tom Brady. He’s going to end the game. I don’t see how that was a wise decision by Matt LaFleur.

The Packers also couldn’t really capitalize on three straight Tom Brady interceptions, something that almost never happens.

The Buccaneers now get to play at home in the Super Bowl, which is the first time in NFL history that that has occurred. Brady reaches his TENTH Super Bowl, which is unfathomable.

For Aaron Rodgers, he now moves to 1–4 in the Conference Title round. He played well enough to win, but his teammates (notably cornerback Kevin King) and the Packer coaching staff let him down.

Kansas City 38 — Buffalo 24

Patrick Mahomes did what Patrick Mahomes does.: Win Football Games. The Chiefs fell in another two-score hole and came roaring back like always. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce can’t be contained and the KC defense blitzed from everywhere, confusing Josh Allen.

Mahomes, for what it’s worth, looked great in this one. His toe seemed fine and his head injury was a non factor.

The Chiefs did suffer a significant loss as their left tackle, Eric Fisher, was lost for the season with an Achilles injury.

Kansas City will be the favorites as they head to face Tom Brady and the Bucs in Tampa Bay. It should be an all-time matchup as we get to see the G.O.A.T. vs. The Future G.O.A.T.

Brady is the last QB to beat Mahomes in the playoffs. Can he do it again and win his 7th Super Bowl? Or will Mahomes become the first QB since Brady to go back-to-back?

We’ll find out on February 7th.
