Ok, now on to our Mock Draft 3.0, our final mock draft before the 2020 NFL Draft…with TWO FULL ROUNDS of predictions.
Away we go…
1. Cincinnati Bengals
The Pick: Joe Burrow — QB — LSU
60 TDs. Undefeated season. Heisman. National Champion. You can’t beat that resumé. Burrow is whip smart, has good mobility and has a good, but not great, arm. He’s going to beat you with his mind and accuracy. He doesn’t have the strongest arm, but it’s good enough. The Bengals will take the best QB on the board.
2. Washington Redskins
The Pick: Chase Young — DL — Ohio State
Young is a freak. Compared to Joey and Nick Bosa, he is a better prospect coming out of college. Power, Speed, Relentlessness. He’s got it all. He’s the safest pick in the draft and the Redskins will take him second overall.
3. Miami Dolphins (Trade With Lions)
The Pick: Andrew Thomas — OT — Georgia
Thomas is a good athlete for an offensive tackle who can get out of his stance and compete with burst and athleticism. Physical and strong at the point of attack. Can play guard or tackle in NFL. Miami needs to replace Laremy Tunsil and will have to protect whichever QB they select early in the first round.
4. New York Giants
The Pick: Isaiah Simmons — LB — Clemson
Ridiculously versatile and instinctive. Could play any position on defense. Can cover any offensive position and has great vision. He’s got all of the tools. Dave Gettleman does not trade down, even though it would be wise to do so here. That being said, Simmons would be a great fit in New York.
5. Detroit Lions (Trade with Dolphins)
The Pick: Jeff Okudah — CB — Ohio State
Great man coverage skills and beyond fast. Good ball skills. Okudah would be a good fit on the Lions. The Lions would be smart to trade down and grab some more picks here. A week ago this seemed like a spot that the Dolphins or Chargers would trade up to for a QB, but that market has seemed to soften a bit.
6. Los Angeles Chargers
The Pick: Justin Herbert — QB — Oregon
Physically is the best QB in the draft with the biggest arm. Ridiculously intelligent. Won the Academic Heisman. Herbert would be well served to sit for a year, but if he’s brought along correctly he could be the best QB in this draft class long term.
7. Carolina Panthers
The Pick: Derrick Brown — DT — Auburn
Brown is a really good athlete for his size. He is scheme and positionally flexible. Moreover, is he ridiculously competitive. The Panthers are in a full rebuild and could still use this spot to draft a QB to play behind Teddy Bridgewater. However, in this scenario they take a dominant defensive lineman. That being said, I would not be surprised to see Carolina go get Jerry Jeudy or CeeDee Lamb here.
8. Arizona Cardinals
The Pick: Tristan Wirfs — OL — Iowa
Wirfs has great mobility and strength. He has big strong hands that can maul opponents. The Cardinals need to protect Kyler Murray’s backside and give him more time to find new addition DeAndre Hopkins. It’s pretty clear Arizona is going to take an offensive lineman. Which one is the question. My intuition says Wirfs or Mekhi Becton will be the pick.
9. Miami Dolphins (Trade with Jaguars)
The Pick: Tua Tagovailoa — QB — Alabama
Ridiculously accurate and smart. A true winner and leader. Great mobility inside the pocket and thrives passing from the pocket. He can be aggressive pushing the ball down the field, but doesn’t turn the ball over. Of course, Tagovailoa also has a long injury history and is recovering from a devastating hip injury. The Dolphins trade up to get their QB of the future.
10. Atlanta Falcons (Trade with Browns)
The Pick: CJ Henderson — CB — Florida
Henderson is probably the best man coverage cornerback in the draft. He has outstanding body control and quick feet. Very fluid and efficient with his movements. The Falcons are looking to trade up to take either Henderson or Javon Kinlaw. They tried to go get Chase Young from Washington, too. But here they get a true number one corner.
11. New York Jets
The Pick: Jedrick Wills — OL — Alabama
The Jets have a tough decision to make here between Wills and one of the top wide receivers. However, I think ultimately they think that protecting Sam Darnold is more important than giving the young QB a top flight receiver. They go with Wills, who may not be a franchise left tackle long term, but he’s very talented and a natural pass blocker.
12. Las Vegas Raiders
The Pick: CeeDee Lamb — WR — Oklahoma
Lamb probably has the best hands in the draft with incredible ball skills. Not the fastest player in the world, but precise in his routes and will get separation. He’s a dynamic playmaker, which is exactly what the Vegas is looking for. Raiders GM Mike Mayock absolutely loves Lamb, which is why we lean the Oklahoma star over Jerry Jeudy.
13. San Francisco 49ers
The Pick: Henry Ruggs — WR — Alabama
The run on receivers continues. Henry Ruggs is absolutely one of the fastest players to ever come into the NFL at the receiver position. Absolutely electric in the open field. Great at tracking the ball in the air, good hands. He also runs good routes and can break ankles in tight windows. He would be absolutely terrifying in a Kyle Shanahan offense.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Pick: Mekhi Becton — OL — Louisville
Becton projects as a true left tackle in the NFL. Tons of length, strength and power to make it as a LT. Big time player in the run game. He destroys opponents with his size and power. Lots of body control and balance for a big man. Becton would be an excellent addition to the Buccaneers to protect Tom Brady.
15. Denver Broncos
The Pick: Jerry Jeudy — WR — Alabama
The Broncos all of a sudden have a pretty strong young roster; however, the need a dynamic playmaker in the passing game. Enter Jeudy, a natural route runner with very high end speed. He’s a ridiculous athlete and just moves differently than anyone else on the field. Highlight reel player. The Broncos luck out here.
16. Cleveland Browns (Trade with Falcons)
The Pick: Ezra Cleveland — OT — Boise State
The Browns figured out part of their offensive line problem by signing right tackle Jack Conklin. However, they still need more talent on the O-Line. With all the weapons they have on offense, giving Baker Mayfield some more time in the pocket will be huge. he Browns are in love with Boise State tackle Ezra Cleveland, yes you read that right. They grab some extra picks and grab him at 16.
17. Dallas Cowboys
The Pick: Javon Kinlaw — DL — South Carolina
Absolutely a freak coming off of the ball. He will intimidate offensive lineman. He has a ton of power and will get to the QB. He has a high motor and always follows the football. It wouldn’t be a shock to see Michigan center Cesar Ruiz or a defensive back go here, but Kinlaw drops to the Cowboys and they pounce.
18. Jacksonville Jaguars (Trade with Dolphins)
The Pick: Justin Jefferson — WR — LSU
Do the Jaguars need a wide receiver? Not really. But Jefferson is too good to pass up in this spot. The Jaguars have stacked up a couple of picks after trading away the ninth pick. They’re in a major rebuild, so you figure they will take the best player on the board. Enter Jefferson.
19. Las Vegas Raiders
The Pick: A.J. Terrell — CB — Clemson
Great athlete with good footwork. Great in man coverage. Good height with great range. Has all the athletic tools you want in a defensive back. Terrell is shooting up the draft boards right now. Don’t be surprised to see him go higher than 17. The Raiders need a cornerback, badly.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Pick: Kenneth Murray — LB — Oklahoma
Murray is a tough player who plays with urgency and has great range. Can make tackles from anywhere on the field. The Jaguars go defense with the second of their third number one picks.
21. Philadelphia Eagles
The Pick: Denzel Mims — WR — Baylor
Mims is shooting up the draft boards and seems likely to be a first round pick at this point. The Eagles would love to get their hands on Justin Jefferson or Henry Ruggs, but may have to settle for the Baylor product that performed well at the combine and could be a big time playmaker at the NFL level.
22. Minnesota Vikings
The Pick: Neville Gallimore- DL — Oklahoma
The Vikings use the pick they received from the Bills for Stefon Diggs on an interior defensive lineman who can cause serious damage in the backfield. Gallimore is a force up front who possess Pro Bowl talent.
23. New England Patriots
The Pick: Jordan Love — QB — Utah State
The Patriots have to replace Tom Brady, but it would be a surprise to see them trade up to get one of the top three QBs in this draft. New England already has Jarrett Stidham and will presumably bring in a veteran. However, Love is a wildly talented prospect who, while raw, could be a steal. His 2018 season was incredible, but his 2019 season was very disappointing. Still, Love has all of the physical tools you want in a QB prospect.
24. New Orleans Saints
The Pick: K’Lavon Chaisson — DL — LSU
One of the most explosive players in the draft on either side of the ball. Chaisson can be used in very creative ways on the defensive line or at linebacker. Absolutely relentless motor. The Saints would love for Chaisson to fall to them.
25. Minnesota Vikings
The Pick: Brandon Aiyuk — WR — Arizona State
With Stefon Diggs out of the picture, the Vikings could use a strong WR to line up opposite Adam Theilen. Aiyuk is special down the field making plays. This could be an incredible match of need and talent.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars (Trade with Dolphins)
The Pick: D’Andre Swift — RB — Georgia
Every young QB needs a reliable running attack. Swift is a complete running back with great hands and moves that will play at the NFL level. Very agile but built well enough to take on contact. Incredible feet inside the phone booth and great balance. Very versatile with good vision. He has some injury concerns, but is built to succeed from Day 1. If the Jaguars trade Leonard Fournette, they could find his replacement immediately.
27. Seattle Seahawks
The Pick: Kristian Fulton — CB — LSU
The Seahawks really need to invest in finding more defensive backs. Fulton is great in man coverage. Very competitive and attacks the football. Rarely allows separation and has great awareness. Could see the Seahawks trading down into the top of the second round and taking Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor.
28. Baltimore Ravens
The Pick: Xavier McKinney — S — Alabama
The Ravens add to their stockpile of Alabama players on the defensive side of the ball. McKinney is a very versatile player that can play multiple positions at the NFL level. He processes information very well and has the requisite speed and range to play defensive back in the league. He would be a great addition to the Baltimore secondary.
29. Tennessee Titans
The Pick: Josh Jones — OL — Houston
With Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry back in Tennessee, the Titans would be wise to beef up their offensive line, especially with Jack Conklin headed for Cleveland. Jones has great physical traits paired with outstanding footwork, balance and agility. All impressive for a big man. Good length and overall frame. Improved a ton as a run blocker as a senior. Good foot speed. He’s a people mover.
30. Green Bay Packers
The Pick: Cole Kmet — TE — Notre Dame
The Packers are likely going to grab a target for Aaron Rodgers with this pick. So do they go for Kmet or a wide receiver like Tee Higgins or Laviska Shenault? My money is on Kmet, who is the top tight end in the draft.
31. San Francisco 49ers
The Pick: Yetur Gross-Matos — DL — Penn State
Gross-Matos is a high ceiling prospect with all of the available tools to be a Pro Bowl level player at the NFL level. He is tall, strong and explosive. Very long. Can win at the line of scrimmage and get off of blocks. Huge motor. Relentless in pursuit. The 49ers will probably trade down from this pick, but they’ll be interested in grabbing a defensive lineman to replace the outgoing DeForest Buckner.
32. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: Trevon Diggs — CB — Alabama
The brother of Stefon, Trevon Diggs would be a great fit for the Super Bowl champions. Diggs is a standout in zone coverage and has potential as a return man, though the Chiefs already have Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman. Diggs has good footwork and is very fluid.
33. Cincinnati Bengals
The Pick: Cesar Ruiz — Center — Michigan
34. Indianapolis Colts
The Pick: Tee Higgins — WR — Clemson
35. Detroit Lions
The Pick: Patrick Queen — LB — LSU
36. New York Giants
The Pick: Jeff Gladney — CB — TCU
37. Los Angeles Chargers
The Pick: Ross Blacklock — DT — TCU
38. Carolina Panthers
The Pick: Jaylon Johnson — CB — Utah
39. Miami Dolphins
The Pick: Julian Okwara — DE — Notre Dame
40. Houston Texans
The Pick: Antoine Winfield — CB — Minnesota
41. Cleveland Browns
The Pick: AJ Epenesa — DL — Iowa
42. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Pick: Noah Igbinoghene — CB — Auburn
43. Chicago Bears
The Pick: Austin Jackson — OT — USC
44. Indianapolis Colts
The Pick: Damon Arnette — CB — Ohio State
45. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Pick: JK Dobbins — RB — Ohio State
46. Denver Broncos
The Pick: Jeremy Chinn — S — Southern Illinois
47. Atlanta Falcons
The Pick: Justin Madubuike — DT — Texas A&M
48. New York Jets
The Pick: Laviska Shenault — WR — Colorado
49. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pick: Jonathan Taylor — RB — Wisconsin
50. Chicago Bears
The Pick: Michael Pittman Jr. — WR — USC
51. Dallas Cowboys
The Pick: Robert Hunt — OG — Louisiana
52. Los Angeles Rams
The Pick: Jalen Reagor — WR — TCU
53. Philadelphia Eagles
The Pick: Marlon Davidson — DE — Auburn
54. Buffalo Bills
The Pick: Jordan Brooks — LB — Texas Tech
55. Baltimore Ravens
The Pick: Hunter Bryant — TE — Washington
56. Miami Dolphins
The Pick: Bryan Edwards — WR — South Carolina
57. Los Angeles Rams
The Pick: Clyde Edwards-Helaire — RB — LSU
58. Minnesota Vikings
The Pick: Grant Delpit — S — LSU
59. Seattle Seahawks
The Pick: Chase Claypool — WR — Notre Dame
60. Baltimore Ravens
The Pick: Cameron Dantzler — CB — Mississippi State
61. Tennessee Titans
The Pick: KJ Hamler — WR — Penn State
62. Green Bay Packers
The Pick: Jalen Hurts — QB — Alabama
63. Kansas City Chiefs
The Pick: Cam Akers — RB — Florida State
64. Seattle Seahawks
The Pick: Ashytn Davis — S — California
